I just caught myself thinking again about my stay last winter at the Three Valleys in France, and I think I am starting to feel a hankering to book another ski holiday…. I’ve been to the Three Valleys twice now, once with family and once just with my partner, and both times have proven to be 2 of my all-time favourite ski holidays – no easy accolade to win considering how many ski trips I’ve been on in the last 2 decades!
If you love skiing, I could give you 55 reasons why you should visit this incredible ski resort, but I think I’ll have to stick to 5 for the purpose of this article…
It’s Incredibly Well-Connected!
Having a choice of slopes is really important to me, and, if you’re travelling with people of varying skiing ability, trying to find something to suit all levels can be challenging.
Not at the Three Valleys.
I always have a hard time to decide which one of 180 ski lift installations to use to get myself to one of the ski slopes – some standing an unbelievably 3200 meters. The infrastructure of ski runs and ski lifts connects not only the large ski stations at Val Thorens, Les Manuires, Meribel or Courchevel but also to the smaller skiing locations at Saint Martin, La Tania and Brides les Bains.
The purpose of infrastructure is to enable skiers to experience all three valleys of the skiing area in a single day, with countless choices of ski-runs, from easy to difficult. This means there’s something for everyone so that experienced skiers as well as the newbies can enjoy a tour of valleys.
Amazing Accommodation Deals!
I am so picky when it comes to making a choice on accommodation, but ski chalets are my favorite. I am not at all surprised that accommodations in the Three Valleys are as extensive and diverse as the area it covers. Since it is the best linked ski region in the world, whether it’s a ski-in, ski-out, luxury ski chalet or ski chalet apartment you are after this area cannot be beaten for quantity – or quality!
A range of Activities
The Three Valleys is unbelievably beautiful, and it’s actually well worth a visit outside of the skiing season, as when the snow melts the beautiful environment transforms from white peaks to green undulating landscape calling for action or relaxing, it is up to you to choose. The Three Valleys offers bikers, hikers and relaxers so many activities. Let’s keep counting; fishing, rock climbing, summer toboggan run, a tree top adventure course, outdoor swimming pool, quad biking, kayaking, white water rafting and golf…
Accessibility
Among all impressions I wrote so far about my Three Valleys visits there is still more. Access to this area is impressive and so good and if you travel by car you are going to find yourself there faster than you can imagine using highways or national roads. If you pick a train trip do not worry connections via bus services are available from the railway stations. On my first trip to there I landed at Geneva International but later trips were also through Lyon, Chambery and Grenoble airports and it was as pleasant as the first trip, you have my word on it!
The Clean, Fresh Air!
Is there a better reason than love for anything?! Every morning the first thing I get here after stepping out of ski chalet is a breeze of fresh air that makes me fall in love with this whole area again and again. I travel a lot and some places I visit are substandard when it comes to air pollution but here, ranging from 1300m all the way up to 3230m, there is no such thing as heavy breath unless you are tiring from climbing around.
