Whether your passion is cycling, football or athletics there are events in the most beautiful places in the world that will enable you to combine travel with your hobby. Here are some of the sporting events that are coming up in the near future that may inspire you to book a plane or train ticket to make sure you don’t miss out on the action:

Tour de Yorkshire

The Tour de Yorkshire will be taking place in May 2015 and has a cycling route which takes in the beautiful spots of Yorkshire. The first stage takes in the seaside town of Bridlington before travelling 174km and ending in Scarborough. The next stage is the 174km distance between Selby and York before the final stretch of 167km between Wakefield and Leeds. The scenery in this part of England is stunning, the people are friendly, and Betty’s tea shop in York is well worth a visit for afternoon tea in between the stages!

Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona

The Gran Premio de Espana (as the locals call it) will be starting on Friday 8th May. It is taking place at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, which is only 12 miles North East of the city centre in a small town called Montmelo. There will be lots of different races taking place on the day, and if you’re feeling lucky you may feel tempted to bet your way and place a euro or two on some races. When not enjoying the Grand Prix, you can take in some of the world famous cultural spots that Barcelona has to offer, including the Sagrada Familia.

The Olympic Games

It isn’t too early to start planning your trip to Brazil for the Olympic Games in 2016. Brazil is a fascinating country, with the Amazon rainforest to explore once the games are over, but there are also the world famous beaches to relax on in between events. Not only will you be watching the world’s best athletes, you can also spend some quality time on Copacabana beach – doesn’t sound too shabby!

Bahama World Relays

For the second year running, the World Relays will be held in the Bahamas. Bringing together over 1000 of the world’s best athletes and coaches from 50 different countries, the event promises to be “Bahamazing”. Alongside witnessing the world’s greatest athletes do what they do best, you can also enjoy the stunning scenery that the Bahamas has to offer. You can relax on the beach, embracing the clear blue sea, or take up one of the many water sports that is on offer.
