Fun for All: Autumn Adventures in Park City, Utah

Park City is an ideal vacation destination at any time of year. If you are planning to visit in the fall, you will find a huge range of things to see and do to keep you and the family happy. Here is a selection of the best must-do activities when you visit this fall.

Halloween Fun

Halloween is a great time to be in Park City. Kids and adults will love taking part in the activities, which include the Howl-O-Ween dog parade. It starts in the afternoon in the town center and goes on into the night, so get your costume on and enjoy the celebrations. You could also take a trip to the Farmers’ Market to pick up a pumpkin.

If you are around earlier in the year, you may want to take part in the Scarecrow Festival, which is held in September each year. It involves building your very own scarecrow, and there are also plenty of games and activities like face painting.

Head Up into the Clouds

The best way to see the fall colors is from the air, so head up into the sky in a hot air balloon. This is available as an activity throughout the year, but it is particularly spectacular in the fall. If you are around in September, don’t miss the Autumn Aloft festival of hot air balloons.

Explore the Fall Countryside on Foot

Walking and hiking is a popular activity throughout the year, but the fall colors make it really special at this time of year. Once you have arranged your Park City lodging, start researching the over 400 miles of hiking trails to decide where you want to explore—or alternatively take your bike.

Enjoy the incredible backdrop of colors while exploring the country. Some of the trails are easy and suitable for all the family, whereas others are more challenging. Lift-served trials are also available during the fall.

Enjoy the Fun Activities

Many people go to Park City for the thrilling activities on offer, and you can enjoy these throughout the fall. For example, head to Park City Mountain Resort, where you can go on the Alpine Slide, or visit Utah Olympic Park where you can ride on the Comet Bobsled and the XTREME ZipRider.

Drive on a Scenic Byway

There are plenty of beautiful byways to enjoy in the area, many of which make for pleasant afternoon trips from Park City, especially during fall. One of the best is the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway, which starts in Kamas and goes through the Uinta Mountains and the Wasatch-Cache National Forest. Another is the Guardsman Pass Scenic Backway, which goes to Brighton through stunning scenery and provides you with plenty of amazing photo opportunities.

Enjoy Some Indoor Fun

If it rains, you can still have a great time in the fall. One idea is to visit the Park City Museum, a fascinating attraction where you will learn all about the history of the resort, which takes in its mining and skiing history. And of course there are many shops to visit, as well as plenty of restaurants to choose from.
