I have been pretty excited about the idea of visiting NYC for some time now. I don’t necessarily think of myself as a tourist, but with so many amazing things to see and do, it was little surprise that I was almost jumping up and down with joy.

So, what did I think of NYC? There was so much, but I am going to try my best to summarise all the best things that I imagined to discover during my 24 hours there.

The diamond district

Who doesn’t love the idea of buying something sparkly during their time in NYC? I certainly did, which is why I headed to the diamond district. Here I found some of the best shopping opportunities that I have ever seen. Really showing me why it is such a worthwhile place to go for top quality diamonds. However, as with many things in life, it makes sense to avoid the shoppers trap where you may not find the very best for your money.

Central Park

One of the parts of NYC that I was just not prepared to miss out on was Central Park. This huge, expansive park takes up a big chunk of old New York, however, this is no bad thing. There is so much to see and do in Central Park, it is so much more than just a place to walk. It is even home to the zoo, which is packed full of amazing animals and is an ideal way to spend some time.

Food

There are so many amazing places to eat in NYC that it is simply impossible to list all of them. The thing to remember when it comes to food is to try and eat out of the box, by this I mean don’t just stick to the chains that you recognise. There are so many amazing independent and street food style places to eat when you are NYC you are going to find the perfect place to try out a variety of cuisines.

Go shopping

We have already covered the diamond district; however, NYC has plenty more to offer than just sparkles. There are so many different shops spread throughout the city, you are going to find plenty of bargains or special treats that are just crying out for you to take them back with you home!

Spend the evening dancing

One thing that you will quickly realise about NYC is that it never sleeps. There is always something open, something happening and people wandering around. If you have only a short time in NYC then you really shouldn’t waste a second. I know that I didn’t. In fact, I had fun right until I danced myself into bed. Make sure that you check out the variety of clubs, bars and other night time venues in the city and spend an evening in the company of some of the natives and tourists alike.

I loved NYC and I really urge other people to add it to their dream holiday destination list. I can assure you that you won’t regret it!
